Prop suggestions

Postby Scoots » Sun Mar 05, 2017 1:01 pm

Ive got a good idea but would love to hear from everyone, especially peeps who have 212's because the hull is always a factor. Ive got a standard 21p 3 blade now and of course its good all around.

I have a 5.7gi, 300hp? Your recommendations for skiing/wake boarding and then another for total top end, dont really care how long it takes to plane, something for a radar run.
Thanks in advance!

My '05 212 did 54 GPS with a 260HP 5.0MPI. That was with a Ballistic 3 blade 21P.

So no ones tried props for top end only? I bought it with a trashed, and I mean trashed 3b 21p and saw almost 55 on gps. Any recommendations on a total top end prop for the radar run I want to hit in June would be greatly appreciated.

Top end you'll be best off with either the Ballistic (you may be able to turn a 23P), or Enertia.

Call a prop shop. They will set you up right. If you have one local they may loan you one to try. I use AirMarine in Chicago for SS repair and posed a similar question.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

So heres what I got, 4 people and gear on board. 3 blade alum 21p14 1/4? Basically a stock prop but brand new. Decent out of the hole, think I'll need better for heavy skiers and wake boarding. Couldnt get to 5k rpm, best I could get wide out was 4900 and that GPS'd at 53 bouncing off 54. Going to check the throttle linkage this week to make sure im getting WOT. All that being said, if I didnt give a crap about out of the hole and wanted total top speed whats your knee jerk answer?

If you're at 4900 with a 21P aluminum you'll likely lose a couple RPM switching to SS, but you can probably gain them back because both Enertia and Ballistic can take more trim without blowing out. Seriously, if you're looking for top end, these are the only 2 props to consider. They both do pretty well on the bottom end as well. You won't be able to turn a 23P.

Hey BUYFIRE :D I am guessing a 20P ENERTIA may be the ticket! 19P would put you over the %K RPM I think

Thanks for the info fellas!

On to some other things.. when I chop the throttle after hard running the engine dies. As Ive mentioned before, Im not very familiar with boat efi so would like to know if anyone has come across this and what they did.

I have about 1/4 play in the steering wheel. Im going to start at the wheel gear but again, has anyone been through this and have a suggestion?

And lastly, am I safe in assuming any cheap 19p will give me the out-of-the-hole pull I need for wake boarding? I dont want to spend alot on a ski prop.

Thanks in advance!

So in 4 blade would it be a 19p? I understand 4b change the way you would pitch a little?
