Dip Stick

Postby jkwcfd » Fri Jul 18, 2014 2:03 pm

Hey all! Ok I don't know what happened but somehow my dipstick went missing. I have a 1997 interceptor 212 with 5.7 280 hp gsi. How can I get another one? I called local Volvo/penta parts dealer and they said no one carries it anymore. What can I do? I have a generic to fit over the tube. Thanks
John

It's a GM 350 block. Go to a junk yard nearby, probably about a dollar :D

HP

HP not as simple, the VP dipstick goes to the bottom of the tube and not the sump.
Normal small block dipstick may give you incorrect reading. Did you look at the links in my post?

No worries HP , VP just have to be different, the dipstick tube has got a threaded end to screw on a pump to suck the oil out.
On mercruisers an oil drain tube pulls out through the bung?
