Interceptor 232 Questions

Postby playball » Fri Apr 25, 2014 9:51 pm

I am looking to buy a wood-free Interceptor 232.

I'd sure appreciate it if someone could shed some light in a couple of areas for me:

1. My understanding is that, starting in 2004, they made them wood-free. However, NADA lists the 2004 with a weight of 3000 lbs and a beam of 8', but the 2005-2009 weight is 3500 lbs with a beam of 8' 4". What is different between the 2004 as compared to 2005-2009?

2. I've noticed that some 232's have a lower profile windshield. Did they change the design at some point (maybe around 2007) or was that an option? If so, could I retrofit a lower profile windshield on, say a 2004?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Have a look here:

The low profile windshield was an optional extra I think.

AndrewT:

Thanks for the reply. Great info.

The old specs page suggests that there were no changes between 2004 and whenever those specs were published. Do you happen to know what year these specs where taken from the old site?

Thanks again for replying.

I have copied it back in 2010 when I got my Interceptor
Caravelle was in receivership but the old site was still going.
I wished I copied the whole site as there was a lot of information on it.
I don't think that Caravelle made to many changes from 2004 till
2009 other than cosmetic staff.

The wood free and wood versions of the 232 are both 3500#. The reference to 3000 is a misprint. I have several the brochures of different years and the 232 is always listed as below. The low profile windshield (now called the SST model) was an option and could be added but would be expensive. The SS model had a full width transom pad and the LS had a walkthru transom.

Centerline 23’0”in / 701.04 cm
Max Beam 8’4” in / 254 cm
Max Engine 375 hp
Max Fuel 36 gal / 136.27 liters
Deadrise 20°
Weight (approx) 3500 lb / 1587.57 kg
Draft Up 19” / 48.26 cm
Draft Down 36” / 91.44 cm

Thank you AndrewT and iammarcuse for the info. Very helpful.

Now I just need to find a nice 232 reasonably close to where I live (Niagara Falls area Canada). I like the 212 a lot too.

Thanks again, guys.

I have a 2001 232 SC that I will consider selling. Boat is almost perfect. Interior and out. Always kept indoors. Just over 200 hours. Located in Erie PA. Only reason I would sell is to go bigger. I love this boat but would just like something a little bigger. Let me know if your interested. It does of course have the wood stringers but they are dry and solid because of it being kept dry. It has a 50 gallon tank which is different than what most of the people above said in their brochures with a 320 hp Merc and the Bravo drive.

SC has a bigger tank than the BR. I think that is why there is confusion on this subject.
