There is actually a super easy way to get it out. Remove the face plate and the grey bezel. Instead of trying to slide the radio out. Put a thin screwdriver in each side to release the metal catch and push the radio in. It will slide right in.

When I replaced it I left the strap unattached. It seems plenty secure without it.

I'm not sure what you are suggesting. I don't see how "push the radio in" and "it will slide right in" can get the radio out :-). Is there a way for the innards to come out of the case or something? I had no problem putting the radio back in. I agree the bar probably isn't necessary.

You can't pull it out because the step prevents it. You instead push it in and then reach in the opening and undo the screw on the strap. Then just pull the radio out the raw opening once you have removed the plastic molding. I just did it. Took about one minute. Took another one minute to put in new radio. Easy weezie.

Cool, got it. I'll try that next time. I didn't see how the face plate would come completely off but from what you are saying there must be some latches on the sides. thanks

Did you get your radio removed? I have the same issue with my 207.
