Radio power line...

Postby msbendts » Tue Jul 23, 2013 10:12 pm

I'm noticing that my radio is powered much like a radio in the car...when the key is in the OFF position (center), the radio is also powered off. This is probably designed to keep from accidentally draining the battery, but is annoying to have the music stop playing and then restart playing when changing the key position.

Has anyone rewired their radio so that:
1) power feed is always on? If so, what did you tap into?

2) power feed is controlled by ACC switch? (is ACC switch on dash not affected by key on/off/acc position?)

3) any other means?

Just curious if others have been annoyed and changed their power feed...

Mine is hard wired into the switch panel and always has power with key off.

My crownline was wired hot. I didn't wire it so I am not sure where it wired to but I was always worried I left it on. I didn't have a batt switch or dual batts.

Put a big stereo capacitor on the power cables as close to the radio as conveniently possible. Not only will it power the radio between key switching, it will help the overall sound. :2cool:
