I have a 2002 188FS with a 4.3V6, boat did not come with a Hrs meter. Is their a way to determine the Hrs my boat may have. Some type of internal system that records running time, Thanks

If it's EFI you can hook up a diagnostic device and download the hours, if carby I think it's anybody's guess?

I believe that Andrew has it right.

I wouldn't worry about it too much either way though. I've never seen an engine in a small boat wear out due to being run to death. The boat disintegrates around the engine and the engine deteriorates due to lack of maintenance, corrosion and lack of use.

I have only done 90 hours in 3 years, even though we take her out fairly regularly. Even if we spend the whole day on the river , she may only run 2-4 hours all up.
I service her once a year in our fall (may), so that she sits for about 4 months with clean oil in the motor and out-drive, give her a good clean and wash, polish and wax. Battery is hooked up to an on board charger that maintains the battery fully charged over the winter months.
