Hey guys, in the process of purchasing this 1999 Interceptor 212. I haven't seen much on here about the pre 2004 models. Are there any major concerns I need to be aware of? This one looks like it has been well cared for. Hoping I can figure out how to post pictures. I look forward to your input!

Oh I have seen the boat. Truly not a scratch on it. Has a couple of seams on the interior that could use a little stitch work, otherwise seems to be a solid boat. Just waiting on it to get warm enough for a test drive before finalizing the deal.

Hey Therapy,
Have you been able to make a deal on the 212?

JP,

I'm not sure, we made the deal with the contingency of a test ride after the boat was dewinterized. I've attempted to contact the seller but not getting a response back.

Finally heard back from the seller. He has been out of town, deal still set to go. Now as long as the test ride/drive is good I'll finally have a float this summer!

First order of business will be to get those crazy flames off of there. Just not my style.

What is it powered with? Looks like a nice boat and yeah, I couldnt handle the flames either, the stock graphics look classy tho. Best of luck with the sea trial!

It has the 350 MPI Mag, or is it the 350 MAG MPI? The sweet part is, the motor was just replaced two seasons ago, and owner believes has less than 100 hours on it. I can verify the hours with the shop that installed it. It has been very well maintained, impeller replaced every other year, lower unit oil changed annually, he is putting new tires on the trailer and repacking the hubs (I understand he owns a tire/repair shop). It should be lake ready. I have had (in fact the saga still continues) a nightmare of an attempt at having a classic boat restored. After 7 years just trying to get it back from the shop that was replacing the wood parts (stringers/transom/floor) I decided it was just time to move on. My point being I don't want a project, I'm ready to get back on the water.

Finally took delivery tonight. Took a ride in her Sunday, she runs great and is pretty fast. I need to get GPS on it. Has the 5.7 MAG MPI with a bravo 1. Currently has a vengeance 23p prop on it. Hope shot sucks so I will be searching for a different prop. She needs a good cleaning and lots of TLC, along with a good bit of updating. I'll do what I can this season but this winter is when I will get deep into it. Happy to hear your thoughts on any of it.

Congrats on the purchase!

You have to love the spirit of boat owners....One post "i'm not looking for a project" next post "this winter is when I will get deep into it".........

Looking forward to some updated pics minus those "custom" flames!

Haha! Well, by deep into it I mean getting it just like I want it, replacing the car dash gauge setup to individual gauges, working on the stereo ( though it rocks rather well), etc etc.

I suppose since I restore cars, a project to me is one that needs a complete rebuild, new motor, controls, cables, paint, the works. This boat is essentially lake ready, though the flames must go immediately. I have been looking at new graphics and found a couple that I like.

I tried to upload pictures last night from my phone but it told me they were too big. I'll work on that when I can.

Immediate plans: Remove and replace graphics, deep cleaning (nothing too serious I'm just a stickler for CLEAN), swap out plastic cup holders for stainless, LED lights throughout to include trailer, service lower unit/replace impeller, go have a lot of fun!

Yes then your idea of a project and most folks is a bit different being you restore cars. Make sure to set some time aside on the immediate plans to hit the lake soon! I hear you on the deep clean, going to pick mine up from storage this afternoon. They replaced the chipseal drive with an asphalt one and from the street cleaners it has about 2 inches of dust on it! Dust and boats =mud and I just can't handle that.

It has been a very busy couple of weeks.

So here is the before:

And the after:

I'm debating putting anything back on. The blue stripe in the gel coat had been bordered with orange stripes. I removed this and replaced with a platinum stripe.
