I did remove some of the stock graphics/ decals. Some were scratched. I am getting used to the look of them without.

Question: I have had my 2003 217 for a year now and I need to address the fact that it doesn't have a kill switch. I have friends with older and newer boats that have this feature. Am I missing something? Was this an item that was removed and bypassed or something that did not come with this model? I have added some pic from a few different angles and as you can see no kill switch. I have seen them on the throttle and others that are mounted near the ignition switch. Everything works as it should.

I believe that something is amiss! Get a better photo of the shifter from straight on so we can see the entire face of the unit. I believe the kill switch is a Fed requirement and I have never seen one that can be removed.

Looks like someone bypassed it. The little button at the front edge of the throttle mounting plate is where your lanyard should go. If you grab the button, it should pull out about 1/4". The engine should crank but not start without it pulled out.
Boatless, again.

I guess I may not be as familiar with the Volvo setup as I thought. On the Mercruiser control, that is the location for the Lanyard. The "Beach" catch, as VP calls it, is located in the center of the control lever mount on a Mercruiser.
