It has begun

Postby buyfire » Wed Jun 12, 2013 11:16 am

Some of you may remember I sold the 232 to start a new project. With all the rain we've had, I'm getting a later than expected start. And with more rain in the forecast, progress is slow. So, I traded the Interceptor for..................... a thoroughly destroyed back yard. You can't see the pile of dirt in this pic, but let me assure you, it is huge!

Three years ago, my wife said boat or pool. I guess you know my answer.
Enjoy.

what do you mean too much rain? Looks like your pool is usable as is!! :) That there is a redneck swimming pool.

A miniature pond will be much cheaper than a pool.

So, you traded your hole in the water that you throw money into in for a hole filled with water that you throw money into.

Congrats on the pool, hopefully it will dry out long enough to get it finished.

It's a steel liner pool with a concrete floor.

Yeah, we got another 1.5" last night. Forecast is showing about another 1" for Saturday. We have gotten the whole years average rainfall before June 1st and it doesn't appear to be letting up anytime soon. But at least all the local waters are above flood stage, so I'm not really missing out on any boating.

Buyfire, may I ask how much this pool is going to cost you? Just curious, everything is at least twice as expensive here in OZ. What size pool are you getting?

I've got about $12K in the pool with all the accessories. That's not including any labor that I need to pay for (including beer/food), gravel, flatwork, electrical. I'm hoping to be in it for about $25K.

That's not to bad, it will add value to your house, and hopefully you'll get few months worth of use per year.

I just figured I'd let everyone know who may be interested, the pool is done & we've been enjoying it almost daily for the last month or so. My irrigation that I had to tear out hasn't been fixed yet so I still don't have sod in the back yard, but everything else is done with exception to a few touch up jobs. WE LOVE IT!!!
