It was the next to hottest cam from crane. I think it was called a step 3. Sounded like a v-8 rumble with the true dual exhaust. I also had the head ported and polished. Throttle response was great. Looking back the cam was a little to aggressive. Cam didn't do anything till about 2200rpm then she came alive.

I just came across this jeep thread and had to post some pics of my restored 1981 CJ-8 Scrambler. I will try to find some of my before and during pics and post them as well. Great job on your restoration.

Wow that looks great! I love the scramblers. I have the same set of half doors. Which motor and trans do you have?

another Jeep guy here...

I've had an 86 and later a 95 wrangler, recently turned my 2007 4 door Sahara lease in and bought a new 2010 4 door Rubicon.... I love all Jeeps!

I'm a Jeep guy as well. I've got a 06 Wrangler that has become just a toy. Still have a couple of things that I would like to do to her though.

When I bought her.

Razorback 84, that's a nice one! I really like the flat fenders. Where is that second picture?

Thanks. I'm a big fan of the flat fenders myself. They are full replacements so gives me the clearance to run bigger tires on a smaller lift. The second picture was taken at the trail head of "Sidewinder" up in Corral Canyon in Cali

Summerdaze- Thank you. I've had to work my butt of for them and spend a lot of time overseas.

dancaravelle272- I'm from Arkansas and would like to run some trails down there in TX, just haven't gotten around to seeing what trails are worth driving down there for. I've done a lot of trails in Cali, Navada, and Utah though.

The Jeep is sitting on 35x12.5 BFG KM2's. I put Dana 44's front and rear, 3.5 rubicon express springs, rokmen adjustable JJ control arms, and a rokmen tummy tuck. And a few other odds and ins. It does alright on the trails, but after putting her on her side I am saying that new rollcage is next on the list.

I assume you were in the service, what branch? If so, thank you for your sacrifice!

Have you seen the LED light bars? I've seen what I think was a 36" LED light bar on your style Jeep. OMG  Bright!

dancaravelle267- There wasn't a lot of damage. I had the doors off and with the tube fenders front and rear all I came out with was a broken windshield and a broken winshield light. Even the windshield frame was good.

SummerDaze- I spent 8 years in the Marine Corps as a helicopter crewchief (door gunner) and now I work for DynCorp International as a civilian contractor in Afghanistan doing the same job. I have seen those light bars and they are pretty sweet, just really $$$ but then again so were the PIAA lights that are on there. lol

Helicopter crew chief? I love heli's! I was a unmanned helicopter designer for the past four years and just started a new job as a mechanical engineer for advanced fiber placement machines.

Your right the LED's are $. I do think the PIAAs look nicer going down the road in the day though.
