Southern California's Fire Storm

Postby brindez » Tue Oct 23, 2007 8:50 pm

Hey there friends....

Pretty bad situation out here in So. California. I'm sure all of you have been watching the news.....and yes, it is all true & very sad.

Personally, we are being bombarded with major smoke and ashes in the Ventura, Oxnard and Channel Islands region. The closest fire to us is about 20 miles out...called the "Ranch Fire", which is slowly heading west, reaching the towns of Piru and Fillmore. (Lake Piru is a local fave boating spot for us).

The "worst" part for us is breathing in the ashes, and not opening our windows in our non-air conditioned home. (It has gotten up to 85 degrees inside the house) But, we can't complain....because we've seen so many families who have lost everything. Thank goodness we have not seen any "local" fires in our area, but that could easily change in a minutes notice. Every one is on "high" alert, and hopeing that the fire will be out soon before reaching the above towns.

We a praying for the safety of thousands of people, their homes, and especially to all the firefighters and other law enforcement officers that are helping our state.

I didn't realize until today that the fires spread from the Mexican border to above L.A. I can't begin to imagine what you are going through. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I wish I could send some of the rain your way that I've received today.

Yes....bring on the rain! Average seasonal rainfall is over 15 inches....we've only had a little over 2" this year!!!!!

Today at the beach.....95 degrees!!! Muy Caliente! And very smokey still....but slowly getting better, at least in our area.

You know it's bad, when President Bush makes a visit....ugh :?
