LBJ is close San Antonio and 4 hrs from Dallas.
Whitney is closer to Dallas and 4 hrs from San Antonio.
Belt on lake is right in the middle? It's 12,385 surface acres.
I've never been but my buddy says its the best kept secret in Texas.
Just a suggestion. No matter where we go it's a long way from AR!

I also like Whitney a lot. It's big with lots of tall white rock bluffs.

Was a final decision ever made on a date and location?

I see August 18th as the last suggestion - but what lake?

I have the green light from the wife; we are in for the 18th. We have never been on any of the lakes mentioned (LBJ, Belton, Whitney) so we will leave the decision to someone with experience. My uneducated suggestion would be a lake that we could raft up on without destroying the boats.

Whitney is good with me. It looks like the lake levels are pretty good. 2' low. Anyone else?

After reading the post about Lake Belton, I called my brother who is an avid fisherman and he said Belton is a real nice lake with clear water and good loading ramps etc.

It also looks more centrally located but I do not know if there are any overnight accommodations like there are on Whitney.

I’m on the bubble right now – but if I do drop in my 2 cents it would have to be for Belton.

It's only 10 miles from the dam at belton to a holiday inn express in temple.
I'm in for either lake.

Sorry you cant make it Larry

Is that 5 that want to try? Is either Whitney or belton a deal breaker for anyone?

I am familiar with Whitney. There are a couple of coves to raft up in but not necessarily ones where people only idle by. I have not been on lake belton. I goole mapped it and it looks like there are more "finger" type coves. It smack dab in the middle do Dallas and San Antonio. I am good with it if y'all are. I do want everyone else to be good wi because there is alway the chance I eill be called to work the last minute and not be able to go.
