Texas get together - report

Postby Larry R » Sun Aug 15, 2010 12:06 pm

GREAT day at the lake. We ended up with 4 boats - but this is a great start for an annual event.

I arrived a few minutes late but it was the best sound one could hear! 496, TX Redneck & spctomlin were in the cove headed out. Just about the time I got to the marina, they showered down and went around the corner - man, what a sweet sound!!!

We ended up getting in the water and I used my .88 cents map to wander up river and caught up with the 3 of them. Well they were on anchor!!

GREAT group of folks - I have photos and will post as soon as I get them downloaded to the computer.

Looking forward to next's years event. We already talked about it and possible date and location that was mentioned is mid July on Lake Travis.

Again - great group - looking forward to next year.

Can't wait to see the pictures Larry. Wish we could have made it 5 boats! We went out on Lake Maurepas today. Did ok anchored out till about 1 pm, then headed in, stopped for a softshell crab lunch at Hilltop Inn & by then the heat was on! Got the boat half ass washed & put it up wet for the first time, I think we would be dead if we tried to dry it off! Had a set of Lenco trim tabs installed Friday, man talk about made a good boat better!

Very sorry you couldn't make it, E. A bit more advanced planning for the next one...hopefully that will get you out. Trim tabs..."good boat better"? Do tell! I'm enjoying the returns of a prop upgrade, so I'm very interested in looking at the next mod. Sounds like you may have something for me to chew on!

LarryR,....thanks for the kind words. Can't wait to see the pics. It was a lot of fun...no, it was a rush, to tear ass out of that cove and see two beautiful Interceptors rippin' across the water behind me. But I must admit...I envy the perspective that you had. I got to hear all three of you pass me (when I was gettin towed!...damn fuel gauge) one at a time and each one of you sounded beautiful. I can only imagine what three at once in full song would sound like. Saweeet! I was hopin' one or two of you would pull anchor at the rock and do some speed runs up against the bluffs. You know you wanted to!! Very excited to do this again. Hate that I have to wait a year!

Great job on the pictures Larry. It was good to meet everybody and to know that I am not the only Interceptor owner that is painfully anal about the cleanliness and the operation of my boat.

Marv, please tell me again where you acquired your quick release fender hangers

Looking forward to next year

Larry

Great pictures Sir… but I am disheartened as one Beautiful “Purple” Inteceptor is missing???

My apologies for not offering to take pictures Sir :oops:

============================================================================

Man I had an absolutely great time – met some absolutely wonderful folks…, had a blast on the water…, and running 3 Interceptors side by side was… Well let’s just say it put a smile on my face from ear to ear :twisted:

Btw; We had a few thumbs up from some of the folks on shore as we were running up the river too… That was pretty cool… 8)

Very much looking forward to next year….

=============================================================================

496 – Here ya go…. http://www.monstermarinestore.com/produ ... 0&incat=25

And fwiw being painfully anal about cleaning/ operating is a sickness we all share… Yeah it drives our better halves nuts, but what other alternative is there…

=============================================================================

On a personal note;

I was the baby among giants Saturday – either you 212 owners need to show up next year or the 232’s are gonna own the 212’s…. And we can’t allow that to happen – can we...

We also need representation from the non-Interceptors next year… They’re all Caravelle’s – We’re all family….

So mark it on your calendars please – mid July, Lake Travis, 2011

And if anyone is wondering – it was, and will be family friendly – everyone I met was wonderful….

Take Care

I think that the picture with us tied to the bridge should be on the home page of this forum.........what do you say rivertown?

Although the purple Interceptor is missing.

I had better have things squared away next year so I can make it.

Curious why you blanked the registration numbers.

I did that - I'm not real sure how to lock the photos to where only members of this forum can view them.

Its a security issue with me - this way no one can obtain those numbers and then track down where the owner is located etc.

Looks like you all had a good time. We had just got back from a week at Lake LBJ, so I need to give my back some rest. My wallet, too! Hopefully we can make it to travis next year. Thanks for sharing the pictures would like to see more if you other have some.

That's about it for the pics - since I was late I didn't catch the guys zipping up the lake.

My kid wanted to ride the tube - so when I did get going it was slow, since I didn't know the lake. Shoot, I had to stop a couple of times and look at the map to make sure I was going the right way!! Good thing cuz I was going the wrong way a couple of times!!

Once I did catch up with them - I tied up to the bridge took those couple of shots then jumped in - then when we all decided to head back down river - but my kid wanted to tube again! 496 & TxRedneck did blast by but I was driving the boat and didn't even think to grab the camera when they zoomed by - but I can say this, it would have been a cool couple of shots!!

Then when we all gathered up again - I really wanted to get some photos near the water line - but I wasn't about to get mom's new digital camera near the water!

Hopefully next year's event will draw twice as many boats and I'll talk my brother into coming out and taking photos of the whole group etc.
