TEXAS CARAVELLE GET-TOGETHER

Postby dancaravelle267 » Tue Jul 06, 2010 1:09 pm

In the past, there has been some talk about a caravelle owners get-together in Texas. Is anyone interested in getting together on a lake in Texas in August....something central like Lake Whitney??

Dan, normally I would be all over it, especially with the move to Texas four months ago I am eagerly awaiting the opportunity to meet Caravelle bretheren and local boaters/lakes in general. But the same move has kept me over-extended (time and financially) to the point the boat....

gasp....

has not even been started all season.

Where do I relinquish my "I am a boater" card?

I'm in!!

I know there was a few post a while back that were passed back and forth about a gathering on Lake Travis out west of Austin. I found a couple of places that have over night accommodations with dock space and posted them.

Haven't heard back from anyone on that!

Just keep the post alive and let's see where it goes.

Larry R

I bet bbcoon will be in too - but it may take a few days for him to respond - he's prolly already setting up for the big AquaPalooza thing this weekend on Lake Travis!

osuinco, there are so many lake around here...too many not to get out on some. We usually go to lewisville but often venture to broken bow, Travis, Murray, and texoma. Lewisville is really close to prosper. The lake has a bad name but really it's very large for being in the middle of north Dallas. There is no one on it during the week. We are out there most every weekend. Which caravelle do you have and what color is it? Maybe we will see u out there

Larry, i could do Travis. We have been looking for a reason to go down there. We considered aquapoluza but 15,000 boats was too much for me!

Ya it is going to be way too crowded for my liking!

A local radio DJ said this morning that for all who are going to think on this a minute; you take 15,000 folks and drop them in the lake - of course, each and every one of them will be drinking and what does the body do when it's hot and you drink?????????

He said it be one great big pee area and the whole lake will prolly need a month or two to dissipate that much urine!!!!

never thought of that one, but guess he's right!!

That's funny. My wife actually mentioned all of those people doing that too! I was just worried about all of the drunks headed to the boat ramp at the same time.

Dan, my next door neighbor is a firefighter assigned to Lake Lewisville. His stories range from scary to amusing but in a nutshell, he is a boater as well (a very nice Crownline) but he always goes up to Roberts. Says he has seen too much at Lewisville to want to boat there himself.

Doubt you will see the boat out this year as I mentioned before. In fact, it is in my father's warehouse in Oklahoma right now collecting dust. Nothing fancy, just the basic 232 SC with the narrow dark green swoop on the side. Someone has posted some recent pics of their new purchase and their boat is a dead ringer for mine.

Hoping next year things will settle down (at least a cross-country move will not have been involved) and we put this thing to good use.

Thats a great looking boat. We don't see many of the cuddies in this part of the country.

I grew up boating on lewisville...I guess I am used to the nut jobs! We usually ski the mornings and drop anchor in a cove when it gets busy.

We camp on Ray Roberts sometimes. It nice but it smaller with alot of trees.

Anyway, maybe we will see you out sometime...next summer.

We are always on Conroe because of where we live and were thinking of Travis but A'palooza thwarted us off as well. Travis is full now and should be great in August.

I actually would like to meet at whitney over travis. It is a little more central and there are large protected coves to tie up in. I was thinking of the weekend of Aug 14th.

dan,

I don't know how to do it - but what if you just picked a couple of lakes and a date and then set up a poll to see where everyone wants to go?

I know we have about 4 - 5 members in the San Antonio area, I think the same amount in the Houston area. I only think we have about 3 or 4 here in the central Texas (Austin area.) And of course you folks in the DFW metroplex!

So would a poll work?

I'm game for either Travis or Whitney. I've never been on Whitney - so it'd be a new adventure for me. On the other hand - I grew up on Travis!
