Post Your Favorite River Run

Postby Jax » Tue Apr 06, 2010 11:04 am

We are thinking about doing a river run this summer. I was looking at River Rats pix from last year -- looks like a blast.

I think this would be a great place to post info on your favorite run.

My favorite is easy to pick -- I've only done one! The Caddo Run in northeast Texas. Jefferson, Texas is historic and so it is easy to get the ladies to go. Cypress Creek (or river as they call it now) to Caddo Lake is one of the most scenic runs in the country.

Caddo Lake State Park is a great place to stay. They have cabins, but you'll need to book them well in advance. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/findadest/parks/caddo_lake/

What's your favorite?

My favorite run is 50 miles starting in the Tailrace Canal in Moncks Corner, SC down to the Cooper River, ending in Charleston, SC.

Annual, Arkansas River Trip.

We spend Friday on Tenkiller, then put in at Gore, OK on the Arkansas Saturday. Run to Van Buren, AR and stay the night. Head back on Sunday.

The trip has been going for a while, I have been on it 12 years. The trip is limited to 21 and older. Three days of boating with good friends, old and new, 60 miles of water, not in a hurry. Always a good time. We arrange our schedule around that w/e every year.

Mine is still the 1000 Islands on the St Lawrence. It’s amazing to see how the other half lives. There are two full blown castles (one if I recall correctly is at least 122 rooms in the main castle) 100’s of multimillion dollar homes with all the trimmings (Including ridiculous boats) One person I actually know has a 10+ million dollar “off shore” boat and cruiser that has to have a professional captain. If I recall correctly it is 62 foot yacht.
There is one place being built and at last count the rumor was over 30 million so far.
One side is the New York State USA and the other side of the river is Ontario Canada.
It’s not a trip in to the outback but it definitely is an experience.

River Shiver in Northern IL. Usually pulls 100+ boats. Great way to close the season. The pontoon in the middle of the pack runs 90mph

This boat is just a few miles from me. (Notice the second boat in the back ground in one shot)

Wow doesn't cut it! Worth the time it takes to view it!!
