Best Prop for...

The propeller on your boat has a big impact on the performance of your boat. This is the place to discuss this subject.

There's a Mercury Rev 4 21" brand new for sale on the Dallas Criagslist. Here's the link:

5500 RPMs  Rev limiter definitely disconnected and I question your Tach. If they didn't upgrade the lower end lookout for pieces

I have identical set-up and have asked this forum before, but it is hard to capture the correct answer if they don't have the same drive, gear ratio, and motor.

I have a 5.7 Volvo SX Gi, with a 1.6 ratio. I am running a 4 blade, 14 x 22 Apolo Michigan prop. I get up out of the water on plane in six (6) seconds, and top out at 50 - 53.9 Mph. Top speed will vary for me in wind, current, and bodies in boat. Top rpm is 5000-5150 depending on the trim. I will toy around next week on vacation with a 3 blade 15 x 21p.

One thing I don't seem to like is reverse mobility with this boat or drive. Not sure if it is drive or boat design.

Hope this is helpful

I was hitting 54 mph (gps) in 2-3' rollers with my ballistic ss 3blade 14 3/8 x 21p but I was over reving at WOT, I think I can go faster with more pitch, 4 blade 22p or I'm wondering if I should try a 3 b 23p?

I was told the boat can do 60+ with the right prop

i may be wrong, but i can't think of anyone with a caravelle seeing a better top end with 4 blades than with 3.

if i am wrong, and you're out there, please speak up. :)

if you're patient, you should be able to find one of these for $150-200.

yup, I plan to search out a deal on either a SS 4 Blade 22P or a ****** 3 blade like that ballistic in 23P

in the meantime I'm getting the $100 special from west marine: Turning point's alum 3 blade 23P

Johnny,

Let us know how the new prop works....Do you reach 60 mph. How is the hole shot?

the 3 BLADE 23P got my WOT revs down to where they should be, of course the hole shot was affected ... just how awful I'll have to wait to see what it's like with a full load of peeps... top speed was un-obtainable as the rollers last night were too high to safely get her trimmed up and flying

I hope to get a top speed run in this morning
