Best Prop for...

The propeller on your boat has a big impact on the performance of your boat. This is the place to discuss this subject.

In the meantime... boat away. You likely won't be turning the 23 past 4500 or the 21 past 4800, Just enjoy the boat and don't look at the tach until you get a new one. better yet, disconnect it so it doesn't distract you.

I guess we have to disregard all previous information.... except for the top speed results as they were from GPS

Last night in a slight chop, running the 3/blade SS Ballistic, 14 1/4" 23P, with 1/2 tank of gas, very little gear and just me and my 10 year old daughter, she got up to 55mph on GPS..... it felt good, real good, I have no idea what RPM was as my tach is for OB's and a replacement is ordered and on it's way

I couldn't help but feel the boat could do more with the right prop???? dare I try a 25P?

You can dare, but I predict that you are already running at or below the bottom of your rpm range. That motor has a range of 4400-4800. http://www.kirschbaum.at/ki_prop/pdf/2013/rpmchart.pdf If anything you might need to drop a pitch to get your maximum speed. Most cannot run a 23p with that setup. You will know soon enough when you get your new tach. Glad the boat is running well though.

Sure, go for it!!! So long as the 25P prop doesn't have a diameter over 12". :P I'm telling you, you are very close to your max top end for your setup with your current prop. That is a very good prop as long as its condition is good.

New tach is in... :D

test run was awesome, water was near perfect for a speed run

Ballistic SS 3Blade 14 1/4" x 23P
1/2 tank of gas, light load- just me

WOT with drive all the way down showed 4400 RPM AT 55 , trimming her up she spun up to 4800 and gained a tick on GPS speedo 56MPH

so I recon I have a decent prop for top speed, I'm thinking if I were to swap to a different prop it'd need to STAY a 23P and maybe go with different diameter or blade design? even with these tweeks I'm guessing I'd only squeak another 1-2 MPH?

what do you all think?
