Bearing Buddies for Tennesee Trailer

Postby Bezdonr57 » Tue May 28, 2013 4:45 pm

Hey guys, as you can see from my note below, I have a 2003 Interceptor 212SS which came on the Tennesee trailer I have seen p[osted here dozens of times. Well, when I got the boat home from winter storage I noticed grease thrwon all over one of the Chrome wheels. I little looking and I realized somewhere the bearing Buddy fitting over the bearing had gotten knocked (or fell off during transit of about 70 Miles). The storage place calims no knwledge and I didnt notice it until I got home so who knows. The long and the short of it is I have to replace it but they come in several sizes. Since I do not know exactly where or what to measure (I thought maybe the ID of the press in hole) does any one know the right replacement?? I am guessing all of the standard Tennessee traliers for the 212 and 232 use the same wheels and bearings and hence the same bearing buddy fitting. Please help!!

I am guessing they would be the 1980A based on the website for bearing buddy but there are several very close in size ans I do not have an extremely accurate measurement of the dust cover. Also, I do have the blue indicator for when the grease is "full" and the 1980 seems the only one to have the A but I am not sure. It also seems I have another cover which presses into the axel mount and the the Buddy fit into. Anyone know what I need??

Take out the other side and measure it. I replaced mine last year and I got the 1980A which lines up with the hub diameter.

They are all over the inet, no need to call Tennessee. Measure and order! I got 2 last year and lost another last year as well. I check them each time out now by tapping with a block of wood and hammer  Amherst Marine in Amherst, WI, got them for me.

This. ^^^

FYI, you can get them just about anywhere. Most auto parts stores and even Wal-Mart.

I used the Bearing Buddy 1980ss as well. Easy to switch out. I think I bought it at Auto Zone or O'reily's.

Thanks guys. I was just taking a short cut to see if you all knew the size without getting out the clipers. My "ruler" said about 2" and the most common is 1980. By the way, I did actually get out the caliper and it is 1980 ID on the bearing fitting where the dust cover would be and where the Buddy force fits into so I have the answer. The where to get was never a question, they really are all over the net. Thanks again.
