polishing and waxing

Got a tip on maintenance. Need help with a repair? This is the place to ask.

polishing and waxing

Postby Irie Mon » Wed Aug 24, 2016 8:07 pm

I need to get some slight scratching out of my boat and am curious to see what everyone else is using. Most of it is in decent shape but you can see that it has been used. I would like to get that glossy look back all over.

Hello,

I'm a new guy to the site. I'll introduce myself formally in a thread in the next few days.

I have always had good luck with Meguiar's prducuts for both auto and boat. just last week I needed to get some gelcoat haze (on my new to me 217) so I used Meg's m6732 One Step Compound (both a polish and a compound) followed up by m6332 Flagship Premium Marine wax. Worked really well all haze from the dark blue gone and all but the worst dock scratches came out. It was my first time using the One Step Compound and I was really pleased with the results.

Hi I'm a big fan of meguiars, first wash, then 49 oxidation remover ,45 polish and then pure wax number 56.
Seems to work very well, I do the whole boat once a year.In between I use the spray on Meguiars M52 Marine Quik Clean Mist & Wipe .

Thanks guys,

I did some more research myself on these items and choose to order the Meguiars Fiberglass Restoration System. I will get to work on it in the next couple of weeks and let you know how it looks.

Thanks again.

It seemed to work fine. I think that I might need a better polisher. I have a 6" palm polisher that works really good for the wax but I think I need something better for the buffing.
